SCCA2 kit
- Q1. Can it be used for adult atopic dermatitis?
- A1.Although SCCA2 has been shown to be elevated in adults according to severity of disease (Ref. 3), we could not find a clear advantage over existing tests, so we conducted a clinical performance study focusing on patients 15 years of age or younger and obtained approval. Therefore, the test can be used clinically only in patients 15 years of age or younger.
- Q2.Is it elevated in other skin diseases?
- A2.We have confirmed that it is elevated in some skin diseases, but it cannot be used clinically as a marker for other skin diseases.
- Q3.Is it elevated in other allergic diseases?
- A3.Hardly rises (unpublished data)
- Q4.What are the precautions for measurement?
- A4.Since SCCA2 is also present in skin epidermis, saliva, sweat, and other body fluids, specimens, reagents, or instruments that are contaminated or in contact with SCCA2 may result in falsely high levels. Always wear gloves and masks when handling specimens, reagents, instruments, etc. to prevent contamination.
